Re: HELP ME

Haven't got mine yet, and she has been terrible at communicating. I had to contact bont directly to find out how much longer the order would be. Also they don't do discount on custom skates. I would imagine you have to pay at Bridgend so they won't care if you've bought them somewhere else. Althoug...

Re: HELP ME

I have LOTS of questions. Also, I like the sound of Bonts, but have not tried them. You can get them in super awesome colours and because I am vain this is all I care about. I know that some people have had problems with them, what type of foot do they suit best? I would probably say my feet are mo...

Getting rid of some wheels and such

I've chucked a bag of old skate stuff I don't want in the cupboard at withywood, please help yourselves. There are a couple of sets of wheels (both in sexy green colour), some toe stops, basic set of wrist guards (can prob just chuck them in kit box?) stickers etc. If stuff is still there in a coupl...

Re: Ordering a batch of nylon axel nuts if anyone wants some

Ok, demand is pretty high (apologies if I don't manage to satisfy everyone). I'll probably order some more :)

Ordering a batch of nylon axel nuts if anyone wants some

I'm going to order a large amount of plastic (nylon) axel nuts. They are basically astro nuts (cost ~£6 for 8), but because they come from a hardware supplier rather than a derby company they cost significantly less (<£1 for 8). If anyone would like some let me know and I'll bring them along to trai...

Re: Spacers and Speedrings

Both me and Bam have had real issues with spacers in our rollerbone turbos - I lost a wheel during a scrimmage, and Bam only avoided this because she realised the nuts were loosening really quickly. I also found that the wheels performed much better once the spacers are out. I have since read (alth...

Re: Spacers and Speedrings

Do you think they somehow improve the skating, or is it just so you can tighten the nuts more easily? Either way, could be an interesting idea. Well you wont have to find the sweet spot anymore, I imagine that'll have some knock on benefits too, but as I'm not a mechanical engineer I'm not entirely...

Spacers and Speedrings

Was browsing the interwebs and came across this interesting question about using speed rings (washers) on the outside of your bearings with a spacer so you can tighten the axle nuts fully and still have a completely free moving bearing. Seems like a smart idea... (backed up by some mechanical engine...

Re: Roller skates vs rollerblades?

I've found inlines to be much better for shock absorption as your dissipating the force throughout a larger area. That being said, quads should be fine doing jumps providing your using your knees enough when landing as I have heard of people cracking plates/kingpins from going to skateparks. I'm wel...

Bridgeend Cycle Centre, Natalie is really helpful, and has come to some of our Sunday scrimmages I think (but I've never bumped into her yet)

Re: Skate Geeks Assemble!!

I purchased boot and plate separately, heat moulded the boot (super easy to do), and got them mounted in bridge end. I was happy to pay to get them mounted as it's a reasonably small cost for how important it actually is. For the sizing of the shoe you can download a pdf which shows you how to measu...
