I agree with Terror - when you're skating on them, alu plates don't feel "heavy" as such (although you notice it if you ever have to use your skates as hand weights!)

It'd be interesting to go back to a nylon plate now to see if it makes that much of a difference...

I've got the Sure Grip Double Action 45 plate and love it. It's aluminium so there is some added weight but, compared to my old nylon plates they feel a lot more durable and I find I can push harder - especially on corners. I had that at first but found that they softened up pretty quickly and a quick adjust when the boot was all strapped up stopped anything from getting caught. They're not essential but it feels like they do give a little bit of added support and structure to the boot.

Yeah - this is where the confusion came from. There have been more additions since we (Bristol) started but, as far as I can see, they are related to the appendices and not the main body of the rules.

a) You are lead jammer.

b) You are not currently in or on the way to the penalty box or have been removed due to equipment malfunction or injury.
