Re: "help a dreaming rollergirl out?"

Ha! +1 for ref gear. It's an expensive pain in the arse getting anything in the UK at the moment.

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Not a question but this is signal is one bench managers should watch for. It saves them wasting a time out querying why a jammer got a weird number of points when it looked like the got all the way through the pack.

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Wow, at the start this seemed like the simplest rule to clarify but looking through all of this, it really is one of those irritating grey areas. This is my major beef with the current set of rules - there's so much disparity between what a jammer can do when out of play vs out of bounds that it lea...

Re: Outdoor skating - wheel advice please!!

I have a set of those outdoor wheels and a set of bearings (either bog standard ABEC5 or some Bones Reds) if you'd like. Between the broken leg and my work schedule, I don't have any chances to skate outside these days so they're just collecting dust. I'm more than happy to get rid of them for a tok...

Re: Skater numbers

Agreed - refs will often agree on these kind of things before a bout. A lot of items are based on the head ref's preferences - some like to call time outs at specific points in the bout, some like to enforce rules such as misconduct after a warning (or not!) etc. If you ever want to know any of thes...

Re: Skater numbers

As far as I know, for 3 digit numbers, each number is read out. For two digit numbers, they're read together. E.g. "Blue Six Five Seven" & "Red Fifty-Two" Can't find anything in the rules or appendices about a standardised way of saying numbers but it might be useful to read ...

Re: Skate plate advice etc!

I agree with Terror - when you're skating on them, alu plates don't feel "heavy" as such (although you notice it if you ever have to use your skates as hand weights!)

It'd be interesting to go back to a nylon plate now to see if it makes that much of a difference...

Re: Clarification about baseball slides

Yep - as it's another way of falling / getting up in a controlled way, it's best to keep hands to a minimum as it could result in a trip or injury. Fists should be fine but I'm not sure how it would score in assessment. Like Knuckles, I learnt to plant an elbow behind me for a bit of extra oomph whe...

Re: Skate plate advice etc!

I've got the Sure Grip Double Action 45 plate and love it. It's aluminium so there is some added weight but, compared to my old nylon plates they feel a lot more durable and I find I can push harder - especially on corners. The 45s are spaced differently from most other plates so I did find I slippe...

I had that at first but found that they softened up pretty quickly and a quick adjust when the boot was all strapped up stopped anything from getting caught. They're not essential but it feels like they do give a little bit of added support and structure to the boot.

Yeah - this is where the confusion came from. There have been more additions since we (Bristol) started but, as far as I can see, they are related to the appendices and not the main body of the rules.

Looks like you can call it off at any time provided:

a) You are lead jammer.

b) You are not currently in or on the way to the penalty box or have been removed due to equipment malfunction or injury.

Current rules are here: http://wftda.com/rules/wftda-rules.pdf
