Re: Knee pads

I have the 187 Pro Derby (which are different from the 187 Pro in some subtle way which makes them more expensive ;) )

I really like mine, but try a load on, because like all the 187 derby range, they come up small.

Re: Tell me about your plates?

Delta I spent ages one free skate session loosening the trucks one click at a time until I found the right point on mine for me, I totally recommend doing that, though it was pretty tedious!

Re: Tell me about your plates?

I really love my Pilot Falcons. I feel like they work well for me - they are stable, I can do the skate park in them, and the degree of flexibility in tightening and loosening the trucks makes them really useful all round. You can spend £40 to upgrade them to the Pro, which gives you even more adjus...

Re: First skate purchase

I skated on R3s until I was a regular A team player. Then Thorn took me aside and said she had to tell me something which would really help my skating. I was waiting to hear the secret of being awesome from her, thinking this was the key to glory, and all I had to do was follow her tip and I would i...

Re: toe stops

I have the bionics. I like them better than the gumballs - they are more stable and they don't wear down as fast. You do have to have them super-tight because if they twist, the angle on them means you can't balance on them. I have to torque mine using an allen key through the end of a spanner. Doub...

Re: Padded shorts

I have the triple 8 bumsavers. I also have a pair of demon flex force pro which I like but they're looking pretty tatty so I don't wear them often!

Re: Why don't my wheels screech?

It is about pressure on the floor. It's learning where the line is between getting some slide and the wheel coming to a dead stop. You want to be putting as much pressure as you can on the wheel without it totally stopping. I fell on my face a lot figuring it out because you put too much on and stop...

Re: Why don't my wheels screech?

It took ages before I got screech. It's to do with how and when you apply the pressure to the wheel I think. As my edging got better and I got better at increasing the pressure in a non-linear way (ie more pressure towards the end of the stop), I got noise! But I don't think it's a huge deal. If you...

We'll freecycle it otherwise, I just thought I'd offer it to BRD first! Thanks Pain :)
