Re: Entry level skates

Well, for the price, I guess they can't do much better. The only other alternatives are the Anarchy Mayhem skates, which will be pretty identical. The only other option is looking for higher-spec second hand skates on eBay. But at that price, they won't last long.

Re: Anyone know of plus sized slate pads for ladies?

I know you're talking about pads for ladies (so I'm not sure why I chose to look at this), but if you're just concerned with size, I'm a big chap (not in a good way) and I was given the Scabs Crown Park knee pads for christmas in the biggest size they do (XL I think). They're a tight fit (not the bu...

Re: What player numbers are taken/available?

Well, there's a list of names here: http://www.twoevils.org But some people are now just ignoring the list and using whatever name they want anyway. If you post your prospective names here, we might be able to tell you if we've seen another skater with that name. Alternatively, put the name into goo...

Re: Skate Geeks Assemble!!

You can get your dream skates so get the combo you want. I haven't heard shops charging for mounting if you order the parts through them. If I could invest in my gear, I would invest in the boot and get a full custom Bont that would be fully moulded to my feet. I can change the plate, cushions, toe...

Re: Skate Geeks Assemble!!

I'm also worried about having to do stuff to the skates before I wear them, whether it be mounting the bouts or heat-moulding them. I know I'll cock it up! When I had to swap my skate boots over on my current plates (the holes were already drilled in the new boots so I didn't have to worry about tha...

Re: Skate Geeks Assemble!!

Thanks guys! Lots of suggestions, some of which have made me even more confused!

Trying to get heat-mouldable boots sounds like a lot of work and I'm sooo lazy!

But then it's the question of what plate to put them on? And I'll have to find someone to mount them, which is more money. It's never-ending I tell you!

Skate Geeks Assemble!!

I'm in the highly unusual position of having C.£600 to spend on a new pair of skates! Woot! But, I'm having a crisis - what do I buy? :? I want something that is going to last me a while (I can't be spending this sort of cash every year or two. Or even three!) so it might have to be something that's...

Useful Info - Wheel Setups

As I was derping around on t'interweb, I came across this little nugget (apologies if it's been here before): http://www.rollersandrevellers.com/rollers/lowdown-wheels/pushers A nice how-to for setting up your skates to include pusher (sticky) wheels in with harder ones. I'll be experimenting when I...
