Mounting plates....

You might get away with the bolds from your old skates, but it might be best to use new ones in case the old ones are too short. I might have a spare set from when I attempted to mount my Antiks (and then got scared and got Von Bitch to do them) Sid x Sent from Professor Brian Cox's bed using Tapatalk

Re: Skates, boot vs shoe

I second Antiks. I bought some after I broke my ankle and they do give some extra support, although that said I don't lace them all the way up (I miss out the top hole) as I found that I lost flexibility. Having said this, whilst the Antiks give extra ankle support, they will not prevent a fracture ...

Advice on plates please!

Yes - unfortunately they are the same ones that Blizz was talking about :(

They are very heavy and very unresponsive... they are made from cast aluminium rather than extruded and therefore don't have the same strength.

Re: Advice on plates please!

Agree with Blizz - I had She-Devils. The boot was OK (although there are better) but the plate is awful and I would avoid it.

Re: Bearings

I have normal Reds in my wheels. For the money I don't think you can beat them. They run really well - I love the fizzing noise that they make!! The only problem that I have had (which was more than likely my own making) is that a couple of them have rusted. I think this is because I did not properl...

Antik Spyder

Well... I love my Antiks, but I'm not clear on the difference between the boots on the original design and the Spyder. The main thing about the Antik boot is the height. They are taller than most derby boots and support the ankle more so than lower cut boots. The Spyder has the Triton plate which al...

Re: First Derby Skates?

Not all leather boots need breaking in. I haven't heard of anyone needing a break-in period with Antiks. Talking of which, Green monster are going to launch their beginners Antiks, named Spider, I think. Once i got the right size boot, my Antiks were comfy out of the box. They just get more comfy a...

Re: plate advice

I have the Revenge plate on my Antiks... I love it. It is waaaay for responsive than the Tritons that I had on my old skates and lighter too.

Have a look on Skatelog forum too... there is plenty of discussion of the pros and cons of different plates.
