Re: Refs needed for Luton co-ed Bout 23 June

I'm free that day but have no way of getting there. My car's too knackered to make the journey and I doubt I'll have the money to take the train up there.

FAO NSOs: Verbal Cues

Hi everybody! A fairly quick thing that was pointed out to me by Chaz Tizer of TBB which may be of assistance to anyone NSOing, it seems that I haven't been keeping up with reffing practices and have been calling things wrong, primarily around Out Of Play, Illegal Procedure and Direction Of Gameplay...

Re: Skating w/o toe-stops

so why do people want to skate without toe stops anyway? is it considered bad technique to use them or rely on them? if so, why? x I think it's just a way of improving balance and skating ability. By forcing yourself to not rely on your toestops, you're having to find otherways to stop fast, usuall...

Re: Skating w/o toe-stops

Funny you should mention this, because when we trundled up to Lincoln, one of their refs, Frank Spanx'er (who told me he's been reffing for 3 and a half years) said he doesn't use toe stops at all and watching him skate, he seemed to use hockey stops most of the time. He was jammer reffing and seeme...

Re: Entering/communicating to the penalty box

I got told off at the home team bout for trying to shout out from the box. I was trying to let my team on the track know that they had too many players on as the refs hadn't noticed. So was I actually allowed to do this then? Yep, nothing saying you can't have a good old shout from the box. If you ...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

I don't think anything's changed, but at the last scrimmage practice, we had a situation where one team was on the track ready to go and the other team didn't get to the track before the pack start whistle went. There was much confusion and I think we just started again, but the next time it happens...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Which would you like me to explain, the false start behind the jammer line or the players failing to get on the track in time?

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Ooo! Ooo! Just found this:

http://wftda.com/rules/publications

Under 'Pre-Jam Positioning', if I'm reading it right, all the skaters get a minor IP false start and the pivot gets a major IP. Cool! Now I know what to do next time! Y'all better watch out!

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Also, about blockers being behind the jammer line at the start whistle (which came up yesterday):

Pretty concise.

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Hello again everyone! An interesting siuation came up at practice yesterday, where one team was on the track raring to go, but the other team was late and only appeared on the track after the starting whistle. Hmm, what to do? Having a root around on Zebrahuddle (your one-stop shop for all the thing...

Depends how hardcore you are!
