Re: RCRG- New Kids on the Block 2 bootcamp

Well, if anyone's driving up (trains don't get in to manchester until nearly 2pm and then you'll have to get the bus out to the sports centre), let me know if I can tag along. I'd like to go but I don't think my car would make it there and back. :(

Re: RCRG- New Kids on the Block 2 bootcamp

Certainly tempted and it would be a good excuse for a road trip (although it would probably mean setting off stupidly early to get there for half 9). Will have to wait and see. :?

Re: Good sticky wheels?

Some people seem to like Atom's Poisons (84A) and Stingers (88A). Atom also do Super Gs which are 88A and looking at Billy's website, Atom Venoms are new and 84A. B'zerk wheels seem interesting and the Psychos are 88A. There have been some nice words said about the Sure Grip Sugars which Sin City Sk...

Re: Wheel information

Wierd that you found the flat outs slippery. At 88A, I would have thought they'd grip like crazy. Are you sure the crap on the Withywood floor didn't stick to the wheels, lessening the grip? I would have thought the harder wheels would have suited heavier skaters such as myself and I remember people...

Re: Anyone got grippy Heartless wheels?

I know HapHazard has Heartless wheels, but I'm not sure which ones. I also know that Rachel from James' skating peeps came back with some swanky Antik AR1s and the same Heartless wheels that Hazard's got.

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Moving along... I was asked to clarify on this forum what 'no pass, no penalty' and the associated hand signal was all about. There are a couple of nice definitions here: http://www.zebrahuddle.com/index.php?topic=1881.0 and here http://www.rollerderbyruleoftheday.com/2011/05/no-passno-penalty-is-of...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

And this is where consistency becomes key, because while Butch would be disinclined to award points to a jammer skidding past blockers while down (as I understand), we can see from the Zebrahuddle link I posted, some others would (including myself). This might be one of those pre-bout things the jam...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Sorry TJ, you can't say "I'm right" without proving it. I beleive I'm right that jammers can score points while down and out of play and the proof I have is rule 8.3.1 and the corroboration of other, more experienced referees. If anyone can prove I'm wrong, I will happily acquiesce, but un...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Well, I've just been through the illegal procedure penalties and there's nothing in there about taking oneself out of play. Nothing. Nada. Nothing in 8.3 about having to be upright to score. Nothing really in the out of play penalties section either, the only thing I can find is about blocking while...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Erm, sorry, you've lost me! My point was that I can't find any evidence of any penalties being caused by being down and sliding along the floor (not scooching along on the floor using your hands obviously). Why would you get a penalty for taking a knee after the starting whistle? Why wouldn't a jamm...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

To Wrecks and TJ, if you look at section 8 and in particular: 8.3 - After clearing the pack and completing her initial (first) pass, Jammers score points by passing skaters on their second and each subsequent pass. These are considered “scoring passes.” Jammers can score a maximum of one point per B...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

A rules question came up last night: can a jammer slide past opponents on one knee and still earn points? The answer is yes, as long as the pass is legal. Here's the Zebrahuddle thread that confirms it's not a requirement to be upright and skating to earn points, only in bounds (which also contains ...

Re: Bushings/Cushions

I got some red 'Clouds' bushings from Rollermania for 75p each a while ago for my welly skates. Can't remember if it helped or not, but the old ones disintegrated so it was essential!

Re: Rollerbones wheel advice please!

One of the fresh meat has the zebras courtesy of James (I can't remember who, I'm atrocious with names) and she said she loved them. She was having to re-learn t-stops as they were so much grippier than her previous wheels but she was surprised that they still rolled well for such a lot of grip. The...

Re: Rules, rules, rules!

Yep, destruction of the pack is an out of play penalty (like the previous example of slowing down to split the pack up), but nowhere does it actually state that all blockers on the track and in bounds during a 'no pack' are out of play. The loss of relative position does not mean out of play either ...
