Re: Spacers and Speedrings

Remember you can only do & undo your nuts so many times before the nylon inside wears and makes them loose. I'm talking about the normal stock nuts. Look inside and they have bit of plastic that stops them coming loose. Haven't considered using spacers or washers, as I always leave a tiny bit of...

Re: Roller skates vs rollerblades?

Hey, I like skating both indoors and outdoors and have skated with both quads and inlines. This is my experience: Inlines - more comfortable for distance skating and less bumpy ride. The wheels roll over bumps easier. Quads - allow quicker sideways moves and agility. A bit uncomfortable on bumpy sur...

Re: Skate Geeks Assemble!!

No pain, no gain, darling! ;) (don't worry, it's not that painful..read on) This is how I got my semi-custom Bonts: Told skateshop I want Bonts. They explained what to do - I downloaded an A4 sheet with a grid from Bont website that is for tracing your feet. I stood on it, traced my feet, wrote my n...

Re: Skate Geeks Assemble!!

You can get your dream skates so get the combo you want. I haven't heard shops charging for mounting if you order the parts through them. If I could invest in my gear, I would invest in the boot and get a full custom Bont that would be fully moulded to my feet. I can change the plate, cushions, toe ...

See the thread about cannot post messages (or similar). It may be that you have odd characters in your message, such as the percentage mark.

Ankle lifts (do at warm up)/calf raises - I was recommended these after my ankle injury.
Also balancing exercises, standing on one foot.

Found these too

Re: Skates, boot vs shoe

Bonts are heat mouldable (can get them most derby shops), they are quite expensive though (comparable to antiks). Nooo... One reason I went for Bonts was that they were so much cheaper even with customisation. some prices Antiks £280-480 Riedell £190-350 Bont £175-205 About the ankle option for Bon...

Re: Spare bearings

I've got quite a few sets but not sure which are exactly spare (need to investigate). You could definitely borrow a set, I will bring them. Cannot promise permanently parting with them before I've sorted out what i've got.

Re: Advice on plates please!

My second pair of skates was She Devils. Triton - heavy but not very strong, lot of people don't like, me including. I bent mine through my normal skating motion... Rival - a new plate, haven't heard anything about this, *looks* nice - lighter but stronger. But search Skatelog forum for discussion! ...
