old wheels

Hi!

I'm new to roller skating and derby - but I used to ice skate a bit.

I need either some skates size 4.5 (or 5)

OR

Some wheels to replace the 1980's solid blocks that slide all over the arena. Because what they'll be replacing is soooooo poor, any will be great in comparison! Chick Dastardly suggests I need 86 or 88 Duro.

Anyone got any old wheels (or skates) that might suit?

Cheers,

Hybrid

Hi Hybrid,

I'm afraid I have nothing I can give at the moment, all my spares were donated to our kit box at our sports hall. I hope someone else can help, or failing that you can find some second hand bargains around: http://www.gumtree.com/for-sale/uk/roller+skates

Hey Hybrid!

I've got a couple of sets of wheels spare, one are the set that came with my R3s: Raydar Caymans. They're pretty crap if I'm honest, quite slippy (95a hardness), although they were ok for me for quite a while when i first started. The other set are a bit grippier, I *think* they're Sure-Grip Fugitive, 91a [edit: I lied, they're Radar Tuners, 93a], and I found them a lot better. You're welcome to try both if you like?

Hi Tuff,

That would be marvellous, I'd love to try them. It'll give me a better idea of what to get or perhaps I could buy them from you? Where and when can I meet you

Silva, thanks, I'll have a look now :o)

Thanks both, see you out there! Hybrid

Hi hybrid

Tuff's got mixed up about which training sessions :) I was going to grab them off her but we forgot. I will bring some old wheels with me on Thurs and we can see if they're any better than the ones that are on your retro skates ;)

Yup!

Although I'm leading the session so unfortunately I can't help you with the actual wheel swap!

See you later
