MESSAGE TO SKATERS USING SUREGRIP BOXER SKATES

Postby da silva surfer » 22 Mar 2013, 12:58

Just saw Everglides post this message, not sure if anyone is using these in our league but you might want to check out this info:

MESSAGE TO SKATERS USING SUREGRIP BOXER SKATES

This is an important safety warning...

The plastic trucks that Suregrip fit to the Boxer skates can come out of the pivot cup at the front and cause severe injury to the skater. The pivot pin on these trucks is very flexible, and tight cornering can cause it to bend and pop out very suddenly, which will result in total loss of directional control over the skate. usually at speed.
We have replaced all the trucks on our stock of Boxer skates with metal ones, but if you own a pair of Suregrip Boxers, please check the trucks, and if they are plastic ones we'd really recommend you change them for the metal ones.
We have them in stock, 4 trucks for £20, here is a link:

I would assume that if you bought a pair from them they would consider changing it for free but if you got it form somewhere else then you would have to pay them.

I don't think this was an official warning from Suregrip. I think its Everglides recommendation. I think they are just providing a solution to something they have probably identified.

I would think (and expect) that if this was an official message from Suregrip they would provide a solution for free or do a recall on their product.
