Got to start somewhere...right?

Postby Fleetwood Smack » 27 Mar 2013, 17:54

Hi all,

I'm new here. New to derby, new new newbie. I recently bit the bullet and bought some skates and want to get involved. Today, I went out on my skates (if anyone happened to be in Victoria Park today, you may have seen me, aka Bambi on ice).

I really want to come along to drop in derby - but it's the first time in 20 years I've been on skates.

Does anyone have any advice for a derby newbie?

Thanks in advance..

Emily

Also, if you're coming to drop in, make sure you have knee, elbow and wrist pads and a helmet. You'll also.need a gumsheild once you're ready for contact.
Doesn't matter if you need help just with basic skating, we cater for all levels of skill, just ask anyone for a helping hand!
Next drop in is Thursday week, 4th April, all up to date info here: http://facebook.com/DropInDerby

I've recently taken up Derby after having not been on skates for about 15 years and I can tell you that you wont come across a more supportive group of people! Come along to the drop in session, practice, practice, practice and you'll be away in no time.

Hey Emily,

Im also the newest of new to all this. 26 yrs old and havent been on skates in 10 yrs. Not even gone outside in my kit yet.

I live in clifton but work in the centre.

Do you fancy skating together outside of drop in?

Rae
