Outdoor skating - wheel advice please!!

Postby Twisterella » 30 May 2011, 20:52

Evening all!
I want to do some practise down at St George's Skate Park but only have my indoor wheels. I am totally confused by the whole wheels and bearings things and wondered what I need to get. Do i need bearings too - if so which ones? And will any old outdoor wheels be ok?? My budget is miniscule too! Thanks xx

If your budget is minuscule, get Skate Bristol's outdoor wheels:

Very good value for money.

And yes, you will need bearings inside, you can ask him what he's got that is a good value as well, he's got good stuff.

...sometimes ebay is cheaper than him though, for bearings. his outdoor wheels are darn cheap and a great bargain. look for bones reds on ebay, just in case.

lovely to see you yesterday! : )

I have a set of those outdoor wheels and a set of bearings (either bog standard ABEC5 or some Bones Reds) if you'd like. Between the broken leg and my work schedule, I don't have any chances to skate outside these days so they're just collecting dust. I'm more than happy to get rid of them for a token amount as it's a shame to let them go to waste :)

hey pain. I am planning on getting these for the bristol-bath and then good wood. Radar Energy. They are really sof 78a so they absorb (most of the vibrations) from the horrible ground. They are about £40 with shippin, so quite pricy but last time on the bristol-bath my toenail came off because off the horrible horrible surface, so Im not having that again. It took 6months to grow back. Im going to keep my eye on ebay in the mean time.

OMG I want monster skates!

For outdoor use get the cheapest possible bearings, they really dont need to roll smooth because it wont make a difference. abec 1 is fine. You can get some for £1 each from rollermania (though we hate them) i'm going to try ebay again, or that skate shop on park street.x

Good! When you block me off my skates and I land face first on your wheels, at least it'll smell good!

I've bought them! Well the orange ones!
They were £2 more than the ones Tequila posted but the ones she posted were £2.30 delivery and mine were free postage, plus the site I bought them from did bearings for £6.50 a set which seemed reasonable.

Yay for wheels that smell like fruit! You can all have a sniff when we do the Bristol to Bath skate x
