Ever wondered about washing your pads?

Hey all

Just incase anyone was wondering if it's safe to stick your pads in the washing machine... me and Taya did, and they survived!

We put them inside pillowcases, and stuck them on a 30 degree short cycle.

I'm not sure whether this is an advisable thing to do and I certainly don't take any responsibility if you decide to try it! ;-P

But just thought I'd share!

I just throw mine in the washing machine with everything else :-D Inside a pillowcase in a 30 wash sounds fine!

I put mine on at 40 and they turned out fine (bullet ones) :)

White (wine) vinegar is great in sorts of household (cleaning) situations and for getting rid of unwanted smells. Will put my Anarchy pads in the wash with a bit of vinegar tonight and report back on the results...

A solution of baking soda also works in place of vinegar.

I usually just chuck them in on their own or maybe with jeans etc... make sure the velcro is closed so the hooks don't catch. And air them out really well... you might need to set a hairdryer underneath the plastic bits of you've got really thick padding.

I've heard of skaters putting their pads on a cycle in the dishwasher (if any of you has one). They don't move around so much then. Have never tried this, though! Hot temperature could turn out bad :/

I did mine on a hand wash cycle too and came out like daises!

I do mine and Butch's on a delicates cycle, with Woolite... I'm more worried about the material getting ruined by the cleaning agent than it being too rough in the washing machine (after all, they're designed to withstand rough handling :P)

what sort of vinegar? i can only ever find white malt vinegar - is that the same thing as normal white vinegar!? i've heard it's good for lots of cleaning jobs...

any white wine or distilled vinegar, basically anything as long as it's clear rather than brown.

Well, it doesn't always work... I washed my pads at a normal 40° and one of my knee pads came out... how to described it... somewhere between burnt and ground. Plus, my washing machine is full of plastic shavings, strands, bits and black dust... Nightmare.

Can't figure it out too, worked fine before...

what!?! the temp control must have gone wrong and washed it at too high a temperature

When i put mine through I turn off the temp completely and wash them cold

Boo! I was hoping I could use malt vinegar. I have, like, 2 litres of the stuff sitting in my kitchen!
