Any experience with the riedell 595 boot or other wisdoms?

Yo peeps.
I need a new skate boot to go with the plates I bought second hand a while ago. The floor at derby revolution completely trashed my skates and now they're all floppy like suede...
I aim to have the new ones last for at least a full year cause I'm not made of money :D

Essentially what I want is:

Low ankle (so antiks are a no go)
Stiff outers for durability and support
No fancy stuff (saw the vanilla straight jacket thought it seemed a little gimmicky)
Good fit (my current 265s require two pairs of socks with one folded over the ankle to stop my heel slipping out)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

x

What size are you? I've got size 8 Vanilla Brass Knuckles if you want to try them on you're welcome to.

No problem. Technically they are an american size 10, so equal to UK 8....
Either way you're welcome to try them x

I have 495's that you're welcome to try although i think they might be a size 5, but maybe you will be a size 5 in the skates as i am a 5 or 6 in regular shoes. anywho i really like them as they are quite low and you can get them in all different widths, i went for the regular front and narrow heel but they have all sorts of combinations. They are plain black with 1 R on the side, so you cant get much less fancy than that!

Kamikaze Kitten skates on 495's and has just done an interesting review on hers:

(Ruby good tip on there to tighten the heel ;))

here is the spec of her setup:

I think they are similar to the 595's but not entirely sure...

You may want to listen to Derby Deeds episodes 113 to 117 where Pitchit reviews 5 different boots (and plates, but you're after boots)
Here is the first one http://derbydeeds.com/2012/06/ddp_ep113/#more-2348

You can listen to the show any time when you click on the link, and you can scroll directly to the right place, as they're giving the timing of each part in the show's description.

Good luck!

i have 195's but mine are a uk 4.5 so maybe a bit small.... they are super low! however i originally bought them in the wrong size so bought dr ferals off her 2nd hand and they have the dynapro plate that i find really heavy compared to the reactor plate i had originally (couldnt swap the plates as too big!) they are quite narrow but i still get heel slippage...i have tiny heels... i have to wear ankle supports to help grip...

i think i may have got my heart set on these now, they look the same as 195's but have slightly more ankle support and heel lock system.... out shortly...FFS Blue Streak
