Yeah Del, I'd like to know what they teach you at bootcamp, given they are, like, derby goddesses and all that
I honestly couldn't see what kind of force propelled them; I'm pretty sure it wasn't their legs.
I was also very confused about the knee thing. They seemed to be doing this tactic indistictly of the type of game, and there were a couple of jams where both
the teams' blockers where scrabbling to take a knee at the same time. ?? What the?...
I was blown away by some of their blocking technique. They used a side block like the one we practiced only recently, leaning on a blocker sideways while turning the knee fully to one side, that seemed to work every time for them. It was done starting from behind the blocker, sweeping her low low with the thigh, past over the edge before she would even realise she had been trapped. Neat. We should definitely practice that. What struck me is that jammers were using the block to sweep skaters from their inside in corners , then run like hell as soon as that skater was out (!). Very cool.
