Thanks Bicha for texting me at half-time and forcing me out of my keyboard. It was amazing! They're so agile!!! "Wheels? What wheels?"

I need to get that knee strategy clarified for me once and for good. I'll ask them tomorrow, since both teams did it (but London more) when there wasn't particularly a power jam situation and since to me it only looks like the jammer is straight out of the pack when the opposing blockers haven't stood up yet (especially when it's DeRanged, LRG are standing up in a lightning bolt!).

I'm really nervous about tomorrow now... :?

Del have you got fiveonfive mag? There is a whole article on knee down starts and strategy around them... obviously its best to get it in person as you can discuss and clarify! your welcome to borrow it anyway if you want a read too!

Please take a zillion notes and have a fab time most of all! jealous!

Yeah Del, I'd like to know what they teach you at bootcamp, given they are, like, derby goddesses and all that  I honestly couldn't see what kind of force propelled them; I'm pretty sure it wasn't their legs.

I was also very confused about the knee thing. They seemed to be doing this tactic indistictly of the type of game, and there were a couple of jams where both the teams' blockers where scrabbling to take a knee at the same time. ?? What the?...

I was blown away by some of their blocking technique. They used a side block like the one we practiced only recently, leaning on a blocker sideways while turning the knee fully to one side, that seemed to work every time for them. It was done starting from behind the blocker, sweeping her low low with the thigh, past over the edge before she would even realise she had been trapped. Neat. We should definitely practice that. What struck me is that jammers were using the block to sweep skaters from their inside in corners , then run like hell as soon as that skater was out (!). Very cool.

Have a great time, Del. Jealous too!!
