Hi!

Anyone fancy a bit of a social gathering in November for a chance to meet up and natter / enjoy ourselves?

Would be nice to meet with fresh meat girls outside of training (and those who're coming out of fresh meat too). Our big events take loads of organising and extra work, perhaps just a night at the Boneyard Bar when it's not too rammed / massively noisy?

Good idea. Want to meet Fresh Meat too, our derby sisters and brothers! We're all one big family after all.

Do people prefer a thurs or a friday? I know thurs is a school night but fridays will be difficult to find a place that will have a good amount of space where we won't be drowned out by music. If we're all having to shout in each others ears it'll be a bit difficult to get to know people!

How about a house party or do we need a lot of space? Some places have free function rooms if we have lots of people. If we start early on Friday - kind of after work drinks, that could also let us get a big area in bar as everyone else comes in later. Friday would be much better...to allow a relaxed evening. I normally get into pyjamas at 9.30pm ;-)

Good point. Maybe best to go with a friday then. I'm disappearing a lot on fridays in November (not literally), can we say the 19th? It's the only one i'm around on! :)

If you want, I can check the diary at the cafe. If there's nothing booked and we have enough people drinking I can arrange to have the bar open a bit later, control of the sound system, etc... And for an agreed price pp we could even have a sit down meal or buffet dinner?

really? hmmmm....

how ouchy?

though the boneyard bar isn't exactly cheap either, I just really love the space. Though the space does make it really cold in November

If I remember correctly, it was £3 for a tin of Strongbow.

(edit. maybe I'm too used to real ale pubs but if I wanted to drink tins of Carlsberg or Strongbow, I'd do it at home ;-)

There's always the Cider House? The weird location means there's usually lots of space.

Well yeah, that would be the only downer really.

3 quid for bottles or cans. To be fair, a lot of other places are selling 330ml bottles for the same price or more these days. They don't buy wholesale, and prices haven't changed for donkeys, whereas other bars are putting prices up all the time!
