Sweet, I'll get the ADHD bunch to come along to Stag & Hounds for 8ish ^_^

'Ere now! Don't be sayin' I don' speak proper!

"As long as we (i.e. us/those that are participating in tonight's festivities) don't overdo it (i.e. imbibe excessive quantities of alcohol and therefore become particularly intoxicated), it (i.e. the roller skating activities planned for this evening and, indeed, the evening in general) should be fine (i.e. okay/good/pass without adverse incident)."

Get it now?!?

I'll be wearing wrist guards and some casual attire. I've only been to one roller disco, and no one was wearing pads.

Most people don't wear gear at a roller disco, but no one will mock you if you have knee pads or writs guards on :)

It's not about people laughing at me if I wear gear, more my league-mates disapproving of me if I don't ;)

Personally I may be inclined to wear knee pads as I learnt when we went ice skating that we have trained ourselves to go to our knees if falling which when you don't have knee pads on is the last thing you want to do!

I would say knee pads are the minimum over wristguards, but ideally both are the minimum. Unlike other people, we need to be in good enough shape to be able to play a contact sport in the days after all the bum-wriggling. :)
