On Saturday 8th December the Tiger Bay Brawlers are putting on a very special evening of roller derby. Not only are the A team going head to head against Glasgow Roller Derby, but we're also hosting the UK's first public junior exhibition bout!
One of only a handful of junior leagues in the UK, the Tiger Bay Cubs have been training since January 2012 and have gone from strength to strength. They've passed their their minimum skills tests which means
…. they’re ready to bout! The Cubs will be opening the evening's derby and are hugely hugely excited to show you how much they’ve achieved so you don’t want to miss out!
And if isn't enough, the second bout of the evening is ANOTHER event not to be missed, when we finally host the rematch you’ve all been waiting for: Tiger Bay Brawlers A team vs. Glasgow Roller Derby’s Irn Bruisers
We last met 17 months ago, and Glasgow beat Tiger Bay by 186-58. That’s a differential of 128 points, making it our biggest loss yet! In terms of ranking, Glasgow (who formed in April 2007, 3 years before us) are 7 places above us in the European rankings at 5th
Glasgow come with a very high degree of pedigree. One member of the Irn Bruisers played for the European All Stars team that took on London earlier this year, and TEN members represented their countries at the 2011 Blood and Thunder Roller Derby World Cup.
Since we last met we've been training hard, so you can expect to see some thrilling live action on track, especially now we also have the home advantage.
Doors are 5:00pm
First bout 5:30pm
Second bout 6:30pm
Tickets now available online from http://brawlers.co.uk/tbb-v-grd/ and physical tickets available from Spillers Records from Friday 23 November.
